Freer and Sackler Galleries

Image
The Arthur M. Sackler and Freer Galleries comprise the two arms of the National Museum of Asian Art of the Smithsonian Institution. I stumbled upon these two galleries when I went to visit NMAfA - turns out all three galleries are all connected two each other. The Freer Gallery boasts exemplary examples of late nineteenth-century works while the Sackler Gallery is host to contemporary art from Asia as well as international loan exhibitions. Check out a few snaps below.

National Museum of African Art

Image
Warmer weather means its back to go back to visiting museums around the city. This past weekend I ventured over to the National Museum of African Art (NMAfA), Freer & Sackler Galleries, and the Spy Musuem. While at NMAfA I got a chance to visit the Walt Disney African Arts collection, the Chief S.O. Alonge exhibit, and the African and African American Artworks in Dialogue exhibit. Check out my snaps below:

26 Months Natural

Image
While I'm not the bathroom selfie type, I really wanted to snap a quick picture of the progress of my hair growth. It has been a little over 26 months since I started growing my hair out from my caesar (January 5, 2013!). For the most part, I've kept my hair braided or beneath wigs and weaves, but always being sure to keep my scalp and tresses moisturized.

The Platform Brogues (by Stella McCartney and Jeffrey Campbell and Jessica Buurman)

I've been obsessed with the Stella McCartney Britt Platform Brogues since I first spotted them months ago on a few street style stars.  So chic! So comfy looking! A statement piece that doesn't sacrificing comfort!
But...

The spirit of the 70s filled my soul this past weekend and, so, ... I decided to pull out my favorite little faux fur coat and thigh high boots for the occasion.

i feel a bit mod-ish

Became immediately obsessed with this top from the moment I saw it.
I love the abstract print and boxy cut.
I paired it with some ankle-cut trousers for a Mad Men-esque look.
